The family and I headed up to the White Mountains for a weekend adventure. The highlight of our trip was to be Alpine Adventures in Lincoln New Hampshire. However, we made time to stop at Diana's Baths in Barlett New Hampshire the night before. It has been on my bucket list for a while. Unfortunately, due to the fact we have not had enough rain the water wasn't as abundant as it usually is, nonetheless, it was gorgeous!
The best part of the entire weekend was watching my kids electronic free. Kids and nature is my favorite combination.
We spent the night with family in Bartlett. ( We are lucky ducks.) The next morning we made the about 40 minute trek west from Bartlett to Lincoln to what we had no idea would be one of the most incredible adventures we have ever done as family. The views from our drive through Bear Notch in the morning were outstanding.
When I first pulled up to Alpine Adventures all I saw was Thrillsville. I was confused. Where were the zip-lines?
Well, you have to be transported to one of the three choice of zip line adventures. Alpine Adventures offers three tours and there is one for everyone's comfort level. Alpine Adventures offer the Tree Top Canopy Tour,SkyRider Tour and Super SkyRider Tour. My husband and my two youngest opted for the Tree Top. My daughter and I went right for the most extreme Super SkyRider. Note, that you must be 70 lbs to ride the Super SkyRider and for good reason.
My husband and two youngest left 45 minutes prior to our tour in a minivan. Yeah.. not us. Our zip line tour was a crazy drive up into Barron Mountain in a 6-wheel drive Swiss army transport vehicle called a Pinzgauers. Insanity.
After a crazy ride up the mountain I took a look down and thought hmmm what in the world did I get us into? I further focused on that thought when I climbed up to the first zip line. Yikes, there was only one way down. I do a lot of extreme stuff without hesitant but I must admit I hesitated letting go the first time. It was crazy high!
We were here. We had to do it. I jumped first. Then I watched as my 11 year old daughter jumped next and flew across the mountains. That is the only way I can describe what it felt like. It felt like flying. You are hundreds of feet up in the air gliding over trees with one of the most incredible views I have ever seen. Did you know you can steer a zip line?
At first I felt guilty that I wasn't there to watch my youngest two zip line but if I chose to go with them I would've lost out on what is now the biggest adrenaline rush of my life. It was nice to conquer something alone with my oldest daughter too. It was something we did together.
The last zip line of the Super SkyRider tour is amazing. It has more of a free fall and it doesn't just come to a stop. You swing BACK AND FORTH! I will leave this to your imagination. My daughter and I felt like we conquered.
After we conquered the zip lines we headed back to Thrillsville because I was DYING to ride the Big Air Bag Stunt Zone. The Big Air Bag is SO SO SO SO much fun. When you get to the stop of the slide it looks way more intimidating. As you look out you cant see the drop at all. At all.
My daughter looked down once and chickened out for a short while. She did end up changing her mind after the rest of us landed with smiles. After being tossed in the air numerous times it was the kids turn to try to the aerial adventure park.
The adventure park has three levels of courses. All guests have to start with course one and make their way to course 3. My kids conquered all three! It was an extra special day because my youngest son has always been afraid of height and rides and he did everything. The aerial park had elements like rock climbing, webs and free falls.
Be aware. Thrillsville is a separate admission price from the zip lining adventures.
I would 100 percent recommend Alpine Adventures to everyone. It was an awesome day filled with challenges, smiles and triumphs.
Alpine Adventures is a sister park to Whales Tale and Candia Springs. Whales Tale is a water park while Candia Springs is a newly re-invented adventure park.
Candia Springs Adventure Park is open year round and I have a discount on the blog!
I was compensated admission to Alpine Adventures for this review. All opinions are my own.
